Tango brings people together. We created El Compas to help those connections happen more easily.
After years of travelling to tango events, we kept encountering the same practical questions: Who else is going? Where can I find a partner? Is anyone travelling the same way? Could we share a room?
The answers were often scattered across conversations, group chats and people we hadn’t met yet.
So we started building the platform we wanted to use ourselves, a place where dancers can introduce themselves, share their plans and find each other.
An event might last a few days, but the connections around it can last much longer.
El Compas helps dancers find tango partners for classes, practicas and festivals, look for or offer shared rides and accommodation, and connect with people around their travel plans.
Whether you’re joining your first class, returning to a favourite marathon or visiting a new city, we want it to be easier to take part.

Our name brings together two ideas.
In Spanish, compás means musical rhythm or meter, the shared timing that connects us when we dance. A compass helps us find our direction.
Together, they express what we want El Compas to be: a way to find your people and your next dance, wherever tango takes you.
We’re developing El Compas with feedback from dancers, event organizers and schools.
Their experiences help us understand what is useful, what feels complicated and what we should improve next. We’re growing one connection, one community and one event at a time.
